Nimbus Suite / Nimbus Silo

S3 object storage, hosted in the Netherlands

Nimbus Silo is S3-compatible object storage for backups, archives, media and application data. Same API as AWS S3, so your existing rclone, boto3 or restic integration works straight away. Work out below what you save compared with the big cloud providers.

What does it save at your volume?

Slide capacity and term to your situation. The comparison is indicative and based on published list prices of the providers mentioned.

Total cost over the chosen term, at constant volume. Nimbus Silo uses the tiers €9.95/TB (0-5 TB), €7.95/TB (5-20 TB), €6.25/TB (20-50 TB) per month, with no separate charge for outgoing traffic. Comparison prices are rounded list prices of AWS S3 Standard, Wasabi and Backblaze B2 at the time of writing: actual invoices may differ due to region, volume discounts or your own traffic. No cost justification for your own infrastructure; for a tailored calculation you can always get in touch.

From 60 TB we work with a tailored quote, matched to growth path and redundancy requirements.

What Nimbus Silo does

S3-compatible API

Same protocol as AWS S3: buckets, objects, presigned URLs, versioning. Existing tools such as rclone, restic, Veeam and boto3 scripts work without changes.

Dedicated management console

Create buckets, manage access keys and view usage per bucket in a web console, alongside the bare S3 API.

Data stays in the Netherlands

Stored on our own infrastructure, with no hand-off to an American hyperscaler: relevant for GDPR-sensitive data and tenders with a data location requirement.

Predictable price per TB

One rate per stored TB per month, with no separate bill for outbound traffic. No surprises on the invoice afterwards.

Object versioning

Earlier versions of an object are kept, so an overwritten or deleted file can be recovered.

Stored redundantly

Data is written redundantly to the underlying storage, resilient against the failure of a single disk.

Why Silo instead of a hyperscaler

Public S3 services are fine for small volumes, but the bill climbs as traffic and volume grow. Silo keeps the price simple and the data close.

Who it is for

Backup and archive

Use Veeam, restic or your own backup script with Silo as the target, without surprise traffic costs on a restore.

Developers

Store media, uploads and application data through the same S3 SDK you already use, without vendor lock-in at a hyperscaler.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nimbus Silo really compatible with the S3 API?

Yes. Existing tools such as rclone, restic, boto3 scripts and Veeam that talk to S3 work against Silo by changing only the endpoint and the keys.

Do I pay separately for outbound traffic?

No. The price per TB per month is all-in, including normal use of outbound traffic. No separate egress bill like at the big clouds.

Where is the data stored?

On our own Nimbus infrastructure in the Netherlands, not at an American hyperscaler.

What if I need more than 50 TB?

From 60 TB we prepare a tailored quote, matched to your growth path and any redundancy requirements.

Is this the same as Nimbus Vault?

No. Vault is our backup and recovery app; Silo is the standalone S3 object storage that you can also use directly, outside Vault.

How reliable are the comparison prices in the calculator?

They are rounded, publicly published list prices at the time of writing. For an exact comparison with your current invoice, we are happy to go through it together.
